Sunday, May 8 was an exciting day at Parkgate Community Church. The Lead Pastor Search Team chairperson, Bryan Axtell, presented Pastor Kenneth Spiller as the candidate for the Lead Pastor role at Parkgate. Of course, Pastor Kenneth is no stranger to the congregation and with his announcement in both services there was an overwhelming affirmation of support.
Based on the recommendation of the Leadership Team, the following are notable dates and activities in preparation for the selection of the new pastor.
  • 9 a.m.  || Absentee Ballots Available
In line with the current bylaws, absentee ballots can be picked up in the church office by advanced written request (email or send a letter to the church). However, this is such an important day in the life of our church that we kindly request your presence on May 22 in both a Sunday morning service and the business meeting as further noted below.
  • 11:30 a.m. || Staff Luncheon with Lead Pastor Candidate
The current Parkgate staff will have the opportunity to engage Pastor Kenneth in conversation and have their questions answered over lunch. A member of the Lead Pastor Search Team will be present.
  • 4 p.m. || Last Day to Receive an Absentee Ballot
The bylaws specify that absentee ballots may not be distributed within three days of voting. Thus, all absentee ballots must be completed and submitted by Thursday, May 19 at 4 p.m.
  • 7 – 9 p.m. || Congregational Q & A with Lead Pastor Candidate
Although Pastor Kenneth has been on staff for the last 15 years at Parkgate, this is an opportunity to ask questions regarding how he will serve as Lead Pastor. You may probe his ministry philosophy, his theology, his vision for the church, or other questions important to you. No other public opportunity will be given for this. Refreshments will be provided.
  • 9 – 10:30 a.m. || Breakfast with the Leadership Team
    Pastor Kenneth will meet with the Leadership Team to finalized a potential selection as Lead Pastor.
  • 10:30 a.m. – Noon || Stewardship & Financial Management Team Meeting
    Pastor Kenneth meets with the SFMT to complete the new employment contract and related issues.
  • 9 & 10:45 a.m. || Sunday Morning Services
    Pastor Kenneth will speak in both services and we look forward to seeing all those who call Parkgate their church home.
  • 12:15 p.m. || Special Called Business Meeting
    Following the 10:45 a.m. service, the church will convene a business session of the assembly to ratify Pastor Kenneth to the office of Lead Pastor at Parkgate Community Church. In alignment with our bylaws, a 75% approval vote is required. This is an important and significant moment for our church.
