    When Love Orders Our Steps
    Series: Simple Faith
Love that is superficial and reserved for people I like and who are on my team is normal. Anybody can do that. But chain-breaking, slave-embracing, oppression-defeating kind of love is supernatural. Only Jesus can love like that. That kind of love can change your life! Not only that, that kind of love can change your family . . . your workplace . . . your school . . . our community . . . our country . . . and even the world.

    Hope for All Times
    Series: Simple Faith
There is a lot in our world that seems hopeless and, yet, we are hopeful people. Hope is such an important word. We need it, but we need the right kind of hope placed in the right source. Worldly is the desire for some good in the future and the wish that it might come true. That is common, but not enough. Christian hope, however, is the desire for God’s goodness and will for my future and the expectation that He will fulfill it. That is rare, but just what we need.

In our world peace seems to be lacking more than it is present. But we need peace. We hunger for it. The good news is that God gives us a peace that lives and grows in us even when the whole world seems to be going against us. It’s a peace that isn’t dependent on us, but is dependent on Him. And God’s peace even makes it possible for us to pursue peace with others.

Living for Life in a Culture of Death
Series: Stand Out
In our culture, like every other culture that has gone before us, not all life is treated as valuable. Some are considered more important than others, more worthy to live, more worthy of love and concern. Not so with Christians. We believe that all life was created in the image of God and bears it’s designer’s name. That means God makes every life valuable . . . including yours, mine and the ones we don’t think should qualify.

    Series: Stand Out
Racism and injustice are alive and well in the world and, sadly, it’s even alive and well amongst Christians. We often live by the values of the world instead of the values of Jesus. That is sad, but that’s not news! But Jesus shed His blood to create a world of racial diversity and harmony that produces real unity and justice. That’s the truth and the news we need to live.

Living Peacefully in a World of Violence
    Series: Stand Out
In our world, violence is more normal than peace. That’s always been true. It probably always will be on this side of heaven. But our options aren’t just to fight the world’s way or to get run over. Instead, in Jesus we can resist evil without becoming the evil we resist.

STAND OUT

Violence, racism, greed, selfishness, social division and even a complete depraved indifference to life itself … These unfortunate descriptions are not just limited to the extreme corners of our culture.

They represent values that go against the spirit of Jesus in every way and their ugly realities spill out into our schools, workplaces, neighborhoods and even families. And they give us the challenge and the opportunity to be Christ in an anti-Christ world.

Stewardship is a Heart Issue First
    Series: Entrusted
When it comes to stewardship, God wants something FOR you, not something FROM you. He wants you to know and practice justice, mercy and faithfulness. For that to be possible, we must know and serve Him, not money.

ENTRUSTED

All of us have been entrusted with money and resource by God. And the truth is, we are responsible for what we are GIVEN, not for what we WISH we were given.

Stewardship is one of the most critical areas for God to use us, stretch us, and grow us spiritually.

Life is a RISK. Risk is NORMAL. And JESUS is worth the risk! If this is true, then the singular focus and passion for our lives must be to know Jesus and glorify Him. Our life is full of opportunities to do this. To not do so means to waste your life.

DON’T WASTE YOUR LIFE

How do you make sure not the waste your life? That’s a BIG question.

Does it mean to be successful in a career? To be as happy as you can? To have a world changing accomplishment? To help as many people as possible? To find true meaning in life?

All those are good things, but they aren’t enough. Even adding in serving Christ or glorifying God with your life is not enough.
We were created to glorify God and, at the same time, to find our ultimate joy in Him.

To not waste your life, you need to discover and be driven by that singular passion.

And God has called us all to just that!

It is so ingrained in us that we usually don’t think about it. But God’s value system is very different. There are no OUTs with Him. Series: Lost

LOST

Jesus has a radical and, we might say, reckless way of pursuing people far from God. He even said His mission was to seek and save them.

Jesus’ logic is skewed. His math is off. We would say His business and resource management skills are weak.

It just doesn’t make sense to put so much energy in trying to find one who is lost if it means neglecting or not appreciating enough what is already found.

But that radical and reckless approach, filled with passion and love, is exactly how Jesus reaches out to everyone who is far from God . . . including you and me! And when you finally get what Jesus did for you, you can’t help but develop the same approach He did.

    The Voice Choice
    Series: Train Up
We are no different today than God’s people were in the ancient world. We are so used to listening to other voices that God’s voice easily gets missed or dismissed. We want to be in the majority so bad that we will reject God if following him puts us in the minority. So, just every person in every generation, we must choose who we will serve. And whatever voice we listen to will not only effect our lives, but also the lives of every young person we have influence over.

Train Up

Everyone has influence over someone, especially young people. We usually miss and neglect that reality. So, whether we are parents, grandparents or associated family and friends we have a role to play in influencing young people throughout their lives.

Preparing them for success in the world is important, but our goal must be to do more than just to make them good. Good, in this case, is just not good enough. No, we’re out to raise godly men and women who know and love the Lord.

One of the hardest and yet most important spiritual lessons we must
learn as Christians is this: God cares more about our character than he does

    You Never Let Go
    Series: Songs
Shame loves to tell a story about us that we are not enough, never will be and soon everyone will know it. When combined with our sin, shame causes us to isolate ourselves from God and from others. Shame gets us coming and going. Only the Shepherd is enough to fix this. Only the Shepherd makes us enough in Him.

 SONGS

Our God is alive and active. He created everything, including us, so that we would know Him and love Him.

He relentlessly pursued us in Christ all the way to the cross, refusing to take our sin and separation from Him as the last word. Jesus defeated sin and death at the cost of His life. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, God is pursuing us still.

He is reaching out to us in good times and bad. He is calling us to Himself. So, we can’t help ourselves. We live to glorify and praise and thank Him. That is why we worship and that is what we sing!

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, he provided them a simple, clear way of connecting their heart with God's. He made clear that they had the privilege of speaking to their Father in a way that was safe and direct about everything that really mattered in life. That same simple, clear connection is open to us too.

LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY

Prayer is our way of directly communicating with God. It is about connecting our heart with His. He wants that. We need that.

Throughout the Bible, there are key examples and models to help us develop this important spiritual practice. We’ll be able to grow in having a direct and dynamic conversation with God.

Series: Identity
Hundreds of millions – maybe even billions – of people think Easter means baskets of eggs, jelly beans, candy and a big dinner with family and friends. Some might add a nice, inspiring church service to that list, but that’s all. This is true whether or not they claim to be a Christian. Deep down, most people don’t really believe it all happened. The claims of Easter have virtually no practical effect on their lives. But, if Jesus really rose from the dead, then eternal life is real and we must hang on His every word. Sexual Boundaries
    Series: The Maze
God created sex to be an expression of relational oneness and permanence shared between a husband and a wife. It is a gift, but we have abused that gift in so many ways. Like a shattered pot, pieces of our soul are left with every partner we encounter. Like the same piece of duct tape used over and over, with each new partner it becomes harder and harder to form true, intimate and emotionally health bonds. These wounds remain until they are supernaturally healed through Jesus Christ.

 THE MAZE

When it comes to the issue of sex and relationships, our world is wandering through a MAZE of change, swaying opinions and a great deal of confusion and pain.

However, as Christians we are not just people with opinions, but people under authority. So for the month of February, we are going to let God’s Word guide us out of the MAZE and into freedom.

Love Now
Series: Vision
As Christians, we LOVE GOD and LOVE PEOPLE by giving our lives for others because Jesus gave His life for us. But that love and sacrifice is not just for the preferred future when everything is as it should be. It means LOVING NOW because we know God is working RIGHT NOW! He is present and active. We believe He has placed us at this point in history for a reason. And we urgently want to join Him!

    Love God
    Series: Vision
Jesus said that every command of God hangs on our love for God and love for our neighbor. It is the standard of life with Jesus and the way in which we bring glory to God. Only Jesus modeled it completely, but in Christ I am transformed to become a person of love too.

The Kind of People Who Lay Down Their Lives
    Series: Vision
As JESUS gave His life for US, WE give our lives for OTHERS in our community and world. That’s the vision for our church. That’s why we worship . . . care about people . . . grow in Christ . . . are faithful to God’s Word even when it’s hard . . . and why we want to be a community that serves and loves like Jesus. And the only way to live out this vision is to be a follower of Jesus and not a fan.

Vision

If you want to enjoy the fruits off your own apple tree or pear tree the best day to plant that tree . . . was 20 years ago! And the second best day . . . is today! If you have been a Christian for some time, it’s easy to
dwell on the time and opportunities you might have lost serving andglorifying God with your life.

You can’t change your past, but you can
change your future. As a church, we want to be a people who live with joy out of the reality that Jesus gave His life for us. Because of that, we want to glorify God by giving our lives for others. And we know that TODAY is that day!
