KiX Children's Ministry

KiX Ministry 17

I have no greater joy than to hear my children are walking in the truth."

Teaching kids to walk with Jesus.

pursuing Christ together

KiX stands for Kids in Christ. In KiX Children’s Ministry, we strive to partner with families in helping kids establish a solid faith foundation as they discover how to love God, love people, and love now.

Our Programs

Our nursery (infants – 23 months) is staffed both services with loving, screened volunteers who consider it a privilege to care for your little one. We believe it’s never too early to teach God’s Word, so our babies enjoy a Bible story and a few simple activities each week.

Our Toddler & Preschool classroom (age 2 – prekindergarten) gathers both service hours for hands-on, interactive Bible learning.

During the 9 a.m. service, elementary children (kindergarten – 5th grade) attend class for the entire service hour. They dive into God’s Word and apply it to their lives through games, crafts, and other fun activities.

At 10:45 a.m., elementary kids join their families in service for worship through song, before being dismissed midway through for KiX Worship, a dynamic Bible learning experience.

Elementary kids are invited to join us for Club KiX, a fun hour where kids learn to put their faith into action through games, crafts, and more! Club KiX meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Childcare is available for kids preschool and under whose parents/guardians are on-site for midweek programming.

Our Values

Scripture

We want to engage our kids in God’s Word, which is “… alive and active …” (Hebrews 4:12) and is useful for teaching us what is true, for correcting our mistakes, for making our lives whole again, and for training us to do what is right. (2 Timothy 3:16) We want every child in KiX Ministry to learn to love The Bible by giving them a keen understanding of what God’s Word is about.

Family Partnership

We recognize that that our time with children pales in comparison to the time parents and other significant adults in their homes have. We strive to maximize every hour spent with kids in the church setting. We desire to empower families to continue faith development at home, so that, like Jesus, our kids can grow wiser and stronger, more and more pleasing to God and to people. (Luke 2:52)

Application

We want to give kids opportunities to tie what they’re learning with what they’re living by providing tangible means of application. This is done on-site through discussion, in-class activities, and service opportunities. We empower families to do this at home thorough weekly take home handouts and recap videos. This is done so that kids don’t just listen to the word, but also do what it says. (James 1:22)

Safety

We want to provide families with a safe, secure environment where kids can grow in their faith. We recognize the immense trust families place in our team each time they leave their child(ren) with us. We adhere to set policies and procedures so that we may welcome children in Jesus’ name without any hindrance. (Matthew 19:14)

In order for us to maintain a happy and healthy space for all participants, KiX Ministry at Parkgate Community Church asks  that anyone (attendee or volunteer) experiencing one or more of the following symptoms within the past 48 hours refrain from participating:
  • consistently green/yellow runny nose
  • sore throat or swollen glands
  • significant cough or congestion
  • fever of 100 degrees or higher
  • chills
  • vomiting or diarrhea
  • shortness of breath

If your child attends programming and we become aware of one of the aforementioned symptoms, you will be notified to come pick him/her up.

Thank you for helping us keep our kids, leaders, and families well!

Every child attending KiX programming is required to check-in at our station in the main lobby on Sunday mornings or at the KiX Building on Wednesday nights. A volunteer will be present and ready to help you with the check-in process. Children wear a name badge with a unique numeric code that varies weekly while their parent/guardian is presented with a pick-up ticket containing that same code.

Fun

We know that for kids, fun and learning go hand in hand. We want our classrooms to be joy-filled spaces, knowing that a cheerful heart is good medicine (Proverbs 17:22) and in our laughter we can declare the great things God has done for us. (Psalm 126:2)
