Fear
Fear is a very real human emotional response to any threat to the people and things we love. How do we fear rightly — that is, not excessively or in a distorted manner? We often sense the tension between our call to live Jesus’ kind of life and the risks involved in today’s world in living this kind of life. Our scripture passage serves as a reminder of the kind of response that provides a faithful resolution to the tensions that excessive and distorted fears present to our efforts to be true followers of Jesus.
