Saying Yes When You Want to Say No
By: Jim Feirtag
Jesus calls His followers to radical discipleship, but – far too often – instead of following, Christians throw up a hand and say, “Hold on, Jesus. You want me to do what?!?!” Instead of being all in, all the time, we often make excuses for why we are going our own way and doing our own thing. During this series, we will explore what it means to say yes to God when we want to say no.

Through the life of an often unnoticed Christmas character named Simeon, we discover that God is always at work, even if we have to wait (Luke 2:25-28), God always keeps His promises, even if it takes time (Luke 2:29-32), and God always has a plan, even if we don’t see it (Luke 2:33-35).

Sep 6, 2022I Don’t Know and I Don’t CareChristianity isn’t just about knowing things. Many of us have been taught a paradigm that suggests the more we know, the more spiritual or mature we are. Knowledge is undoubtedly important, but it’s not enough. We have to act on it; we must do something with it. John Maxwell said, “Most Christian are educated way beyond their level of obedience.” We don’t need more knowledge; we need more obedience.

We don’t appreciate how sin destroys and kills. Sin is responsible for doing the most horrific act in history anyone can do; it separates us from God. Anything that separates us from God is a massive problem. We often view sin much differently than God does.

Feb 3, 2019We Are … People of the BookBy: Jim FeirtagWhatever you are filled up with comes out whenever real life hits you in the face. Our culture says we should be true to ourselves, but being true to ourselves is at the root of every act of sin and evil in the world. It’s not Christian. What we need is to be true to Jesus, not ourselves. That means being people of the Book!

Aug 5, 2018What If They Wander AwayDespite all of our best efforts and all of our faithfulness, there are times when the kids we have influence over wander away from the Lord. This can even happen to the most godly people. When that happens, our hearts grieve and we long for their return. In those times, we must never forget that God’s work in their lives is not finished, the last page of their story has not been written and there is still a vital role we have to play in the redemptive process
